1 in 8 Billion Life Simulation Game: Eight Billion Lives

You are 1 in 8 billion. You only live once. Here's one of 8 billion ways.

Eight Billion Lives is a free 1 in 8 billion simulation game that runs in your browser. You are 1 in 8 billion: born as one person out of roughly eight billion, in a real place and family drawn from real birth statistics, and then you live that life year by year, making a few choices that bend the odds. When it ends you get an epitaph and a record of the life.

How the 1 in 8 billion game works

• Your country, sex, family and year of birth follow the world's actual birth odds.
• Every life replays exactly from its seed, so you can share one and others live the same life.
• Every statistic is labeled as sourced, with its source, or extrapolated, with the model.
• No account. Your lives and notes stay on your device.

Where you could be born

Look up every country, state and large city, or see the chances of being born in each country, ranked. The biggest: India, China, Nigeria, Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, the United States, Mexico, Japan and the Philippines.
